Russell Westbrook III: American Basketball Player
Life and Career
Russell Westbrook III (born November 12, 1988, in Long Beach, California) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Washington Wizards.
Early Life and College
Westbrook attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California, before playing college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year in his sophomore season and helped lead UCLA to the NCAA Final Four.
NBA Career
Westbrook was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. The Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City shortly after the draft, and Westbrook became a key player for the Thunder. He was named an NBA All-Star eight times and won the NBA MVP award in 2017.
Westbrook has also represented the United States in international competition, winning gold medals at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
