Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has officially announced her return to elite competition in a post on Instagram. The 27-year-old, who retired from the sport in 2016, made the announcement on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Douglas competed at the 2023 US Championships but withdrew from consideration for the World Championships team. Despite this setback, she remains determined to make a comeback and compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Legendary coach Li Li Leung, who coached Douglas to her Olympic gold medals, has praised her commitment and determination. "Gabby is a true champion," Leung said. "She has overcome adversity time and again, and I know she has what it takes to succeed in Paris."
