Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas Returns to Gymnastics Training
Gabby Douglas, three-time Olympic gold medalist, announced her return to gymnastics training.
Douglas, 26, is the first Black gymnast to win the all-around gold medal at the Olympics. She won gold in the team and all-around competitions at the 2012 London Olympics and added another gold in the team competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Douglas retired from competitive gymnastics in 2016, but she has been training sporadically in recent years. She announced her official return to training on July 14, 2023, posting a video of herself training on Instagram with the caption, "I'm back!"
Douglas' return to gymnastics has been met with excitement from fans and gymnastics enthusiasts alike. She is one of the most decorated gymnasts in the world, and her return to the sport could help to inspire the next generation of gymnasts.
Douglas has not yet said whether she plans to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, but her return to training suggests that she is at least considering the possibility. If she does compete in Paris, she will be one of the favorites to win a medal.
